The wanderer

When the boy was younger, he walked about the city. Admiring all of the lights and sounds. When he huddled in the corner with his blanket wrapped about his knees, the neighborhood never questioned; they were used to the young boy sleeping.

When the man was older, he ordered cabs about the city. Admiring all of the lights and sounds. When the taxi stopped at the edge of the city, he stared into the water watching, listening to the city breathe as he was drawn into sleep.

When the gentleman was present, he ran about the city. Admiring all of the lights and sounds. When he stopped and listened to the noises and watch the lights, he realized how he was as a child and a man and how much he loved this city and the city loved him.
